We had a heartwarming day at Northwest Community Group Inc.! A new volunteer, Danielle, joined us, inspired by seeing our work on Facebook. Her enthusiasm was contagious as she jumped right in, helping at the stand, setting up tents, and even assisting with food deliveries.
Today's crowd was moderate – around 40 people visited the stand, which unfortunately feels "medium" in these times.
Our journey took us to Musgrave Park, where we met two individuals seeking to set up tents. While erecting the first tent, we noticed something poignant. As we prepped the second, one man asked his friend to come out and check it, but his friend was already fast asleep inside the first tent we'd just set up. This simple act spoke volumes about the exhaustion these individuals face. Constantly functioning on minimal sleep, it's no wonder they struggle.
After food deliveries, we wrapped up for the day at a decent 7:30 pm. It was a productive day filled with both the joy of welcoming a new volunteer and the sobering reminder of the challenges faced by those we serve.
